Chesterfield County Public
Escuelas
(3rd largest school system in Virginia)
- CCPS subscribed to the open-ended,
constructionist approach of teaching programming
to students since Logo became available in the
1970's, and has been using LogoWriter in the
county since 1984.
- CCPS recently established their "Essentials
of Learning for Technology" for all students
with the following goals:
- 1. Optimize Communications
- 2. Promote Collaborative Problem Solving
- 3. Promote Logical and Critical Thinking
Skills
- 4. Encourage Electronic Research
- CCPS recognized that MicroWorlds extends and
refines logical thinking skills and collaborative
problem solving abilities in students and
enhances communications and electronic research
capabilities for students at the elementary
school level.
- LCSI offered a special price which would put an
unlimited site license of MicroWorlds in every
elementary school in the county.
- LCSI conducted introductory and in-service
training as needed, in an ongoing manner, for
county-level tech support personnel and classroom
teachers.
- Chesterfield County Public Escuelas adopted
MicroWorlds for K-5 use in their 37 elementary
Escuelas and received the software in June, 1997.
