Founded by Dr. Seymour Papert in 1981, LCSI is a leading publisher of award-winning, constructivist educational software for K-9 schools around the world.

The primary objectives of our software are to develop a child's creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Not only are these key elements of normal intellectual development but these are the type of skills that workers of the next century will need to succeed.

LCSI brings together some of the world's most innovative educational designers, teachers, software engineers and writers to develop products based on the Logo -- constructivist -- philosophy of learning. Foremost in the group is Dr. Seymour Papert, a founder of the Artificial Intelligence Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the principal creator of the Logo language.

LCSI's current flagship school product, MicroWorlds, is a powerful Logo-based multimedia authoring tool that lets students in grades 2 and up create impressive projects incorporating movies, photos, sound, graphics, text, and animation. LCSI has won 23 prestigious educational software awards in North America, Europe and Asia.

MicroWorlds is fully integrated with the World Wide Web. This allows students to load their favorite interactive MicroWorlds projects onto the Web. These dynamic projects can be viewed by students in other countries. In addition, teachers can locate curriculum ideas in the Project Library section of this web site.

To truly understand our software, we strongly suggest that teachers receive in-service training. Please see our Staff Development section on this web site.
